Out of Contract Training Camp

Footballers Union of Zimbabwe have lined up the second edition of their pre-season training camps with players out of contract to be held at the end of this month at the National Sports Stadium.

The ‘Players out Of Contract’ training camp will run from January 27-30 under the theme “Game Changers – Protect Players Rights.”

FUZ programs officer Vaidah Makotsa said the project provides the platform for awareness of players’ rights in contract negotiations and to connect them with technical people from various clubs.

A number of stakeholder in the football fraternity will be given a platform to address players on contract negotiation, various contractual obligations, health and hygiene, expectations of referees and people from the media will talk to them on the face of football from the media’s angle.

The training camp will also help those who have not yet signed contracts with any team in the search for a new club.

“There are some players who do not get an opportunity to approach different clubs to negotiate for a contract or to showcase their talent hence this will present a platform for them to impress various Premiership administrators who are set to attend the program.

“The Players out of contract training program is an annual event which kick started in 2015 where players were taken through their paces by four time premiership title winning coach Calisto Pasuwa for a four-day program.

“The coach was also out of contract at that time. The event was graced by different football officials including some ZIFA officials, PSL officers and a number of coaches.

“For the 2016 program players will be offered a comprehensive training program which will include friendly matches on the last day.

“Coaches from different clubs in the Premier League and a number from Division One, physical trainers, representatives from the media, various Football Administrators, Premier League referees, dieticians are set to attend.

“The High quality training sessions will be designed to enhance physical abilities, develop and increase tactical as well as technical skills and to achieve the harmony necessary to perform at the highest level of football.

“Registration is currently in progress at the FUZ offices at the National sports stadium. FUZ is targeting to hold the second training In Bulawayo from the February 3-6 at a venue to be announced soon.

“With better funding FUZ wishes to take this to all regions to ensure the every player from all regions gets a chance to showcase talent and be scouted,” said Makotsa.
